ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15, ARTICLE 7, OF THE HAWAII
COUNTY CODE 1983, RELATING TO THE VETERANS ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 15, Article 7, of the Hawaii County
Code 1983, relating to the Veterans Advisory Committee, is
amended to read as follows:
"Article 7. Veterans Advisory Committee.
Section 15-61. Organization. There shall be a
committee composed of fifteen members, who shall be
appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council. Any
member of the committee may be removed by the Mayor with
the approval of the Council.
Section 15-62. Membership and Tenure.
(a) The members shall serve staggered terms of five
years.
(b) The membership of the committee shall include one
representative each from the American Legion, Big Island
National Guard Retirees Association, Big Island Retired
Military Association, Club 100, Disabled American
Veterans, [Fleet Reserve Association], Hawaii Island
Veterans Memorial. Inc. 442nd Veterans Association, Hilo
Interpreters Club[, Special Forces Association], Hawaii
Island Women Veterans Association, Veterans of Foreign
Wars, and the Veterans of the Vietnam War.
SECTION 2. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New
material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the
brackets, bracketed material and underscoring need not be
included.

SECTION 3. Severability. If any provision of this
ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or
circumstance, is held invalid, the invalidity does not affect
other provisions or applications of the ordinance which can be
given effect without the invalid provision or application and
to this end the provisions of this ordinance are severable.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.
