RESOLUTION NO. 9'7. 09
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, The 4`h Annual Kuleana Business Conference & Trade Show, scheduled for
May 6, 2009 at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort, is the cornerstone event of the Kona-Kohala
Chamber of Commerce's Kuleana Green Business Program, initiated in 2005 as the first program
in Hawaii to promote ethical and socially responsible business practices and environmental
stewazdship among all sectors of the Hawaii Island economy; and
WHEREAS, the key themes topics of the conference include renewable energy
(biofuels, electric vehicle infrastructure, proposed geothermal on Hualala`i), sustainable
agriculture and agroforestry (including planting trees to offset carbon), green development and
real estate, and triple-bottom-line practices for any business; and
WHEREAS, the Institute for a Sustainable Future, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization,
has agreed to act as fiscal sponsor for this event; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to be used towards the Kuleana Conference to
defray the costs to provide this educational and valuable community service; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and the Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this Resolution.
