Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 73, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 73, transmitted by Fire Chief Nelson Tsuji, via Conununication No. 264, dated
Apri121, 1997, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Chevron USA, Inc.
Chevron USA, Inc. has graciously donated fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500) for the training of
Hawaii County Fire Department personnel to fight petroleum fires.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the council, on behalf of
the county, may accept gifts of donations of personal property.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 73 and
recommends its adoption. Your Committee also recommends that a letter of appreciation be sent
to Maurice Kahawaii, Terminal Manager, Chevron USA, Inc. at 666 Kalanianaole Avenue, Hilo,
Hawaii 96720.
