My name is Barron Berning, 1 manage Builders Exchange Hawaii, and 1 am
very much in favor of the Kaupalehu project. The construction industry is the
second largest industry in the state and the construction workers are suffering
from lack of employment.
In the past the private sector of the construction industry in Hawaii repre
sented 70'Yo of the construction done in the state. Now the figures are 70'%1
government 30'%1 private sector. The government can't go on sunporting are
second target industry. The private sector of construction must again become a
leader in Hawaii's future.
This project and the money generated by it will help not only the
construction industry but the local small businesses (grocery stores, gas sta
tions, clothing stores etc.). We on the Big Island need this project and other
projects of quality like it.
