A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the Kamehameha Day Celebration is planned on June 11, 2009 in North
Kohala; and
WHEREAS, annually, the North Kohala King Kamehameha Day Celebration in Kapa`au
attracts more than 3,000 spectators, whether local residents, island neighbors, or visitors from
around the world; and
WHEREAS, the North Kohala King Kamehameha Day Celebration parade is a colorful
highlight to this celebration, featuring Hawai`i's cultural legacy and heritage with floats
decorated with tropical flowers and the procession of the Pa`u Princesses, each representing the
eight Hawaiian islands; and
WHEREAS, funds have been requested to help fund insurance, road closures and
permits to ensure that the event is safe and successful; and
WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center (NKCRC), anon-profit
501(c)(3) corporation, has agreed to act as the fiscal sponsor for the funding of this event; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to be used towards the North Kohala King
Kamehameha Day Celebration to defray the costs of this insurance, road closures and permits for
this event; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth below:

010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $3,500
CREDITED TO:
010.161.5161.60 Department of Research and Development $3,500
Tourism Promotion, Misc. Contract Services

King Kamehameha Day Celebration)
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and the Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this Resolution.
