I am writing to urge you not to abandon the 2% for the land fund. Unless my calculations are way off,
2% of my property tax bill of 800/year amounts to $16. Ok, so I get a homeowners exemption... so 2%
would be (let's go wild) $24.00 That amounts to 2.00 per month. $24.00 per year is meaningless unless
it is part of the county selling out our 2% for the land fund--don't do it! ! !
If you take away the 2% for the land fund, against the will of those of us who put you in office, it means
that you are afraid to raise property taxes 2%, even as a last resort! That means you would have to either
think you can buy my vote for 24 bucks or you care more about the mega rich landowners than you do
about the rest of us. Big surprise.
