As farmers and residents of the Big Island (Hawi, North Kohala, 96755) we write to express our strong
opposition to HB1226 - and are shocked and dismayed that any of our elected officials would even consider
supporting such a bill. We commend Councilman Pete Hoffmann has written a Resolution (attached) opposing
HB1226 that will be heard before the full Council at the Hilo Council Chambers on Wednesday April 8.
Most of the residents and farmers in the Hawaii oppose the introduction of GMO crops and it's vital that the
health, safety, and voice of the people here be taken deeply into consideration before any bills allowing GMOs
are even considered.
Please do everything possible to oppose HB1226!
