Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 68-09, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 68-09, transmitted jointly with Bill 51 by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via
Communication No. 195, dated March 2, 2009, authorizing the Office of the Mayor to enter into an
agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, pursuant to HRS 46-7, for the
Hawaii County Police Department Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) program.
The State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General's Crime Prevention and Justice Assitance
Division has authorized a $43,800 Sexual Assualt Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Standby Pay Grant to the
County of Hawaii Police Department. the grant funds will be used to compensate the SAFE nurses who
are on standby status and waiting to conduct an examination on victims of sexual assualt at any time of
the day or week.
There was no discussion on this matter.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 68-09, and
recommends its adoption.
