Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 187, reports as follows:
Communication No. 187, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford dated March 2, 2009,
authorizes the acceptance of a donation of a radio pager (valued at $576.04) to the Hawaii Fire
Department, to be utilized by the Fern Acres Volunteer Firefighters for emergency communications.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County,
may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or gift
which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall be submitted
to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Fern Acres Community Association, Mr. Frank Commendador,
President, P.O. Box 582, Kurtistown, Hawaii 96760-0582 acknowledging their generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the above donation.
