RESOLUTION NO. ~26 09
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER
FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR A
MULTI-YEAR LEASE FOR ONE HUNDRED (100) MOBILE DATA
TERMINAL FOR THE HAWAII COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease
for other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal
year or of more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department would like to obtain a five (5)
~lyear lease agreement for one hundred (100) mobile data terminals (MDT); and

WHEREAS, the MDTs, to be placed in various officer's vehicles throughout the
County, will give the officers immediate access to the data base to check warrants,
TROs, and prior arrest information; and
WHEREAS, having immediate access to this type of information will improve the
safety to the patrolling officers; and
WHEREAS, the MDTs will also save time for the officers by allowing them to file
reports when they are away from the station.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
~i OF HAWAII:
1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a five (5) year lease
agreement for one hundred (100) Mobile Data Terminal for the Hawaii
County Police Department.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the
anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the agreement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the
Finance and Police Departments.
