Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a donation of playground equipment by the Rotary
Club of Kona Community Foundation, P.O. Box 3570, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96745, for
the Higashihara Park. The keiki playground equipment, to be installed by various
community groups and volunteers, has an estimated total value of $10,000.
At the request of Councilmember Brenda Ford, the Department of Parks and Recreation
is requesting a waiver from the Finance Committee and to have this resolution heard at
the next Council meeting scheduled for May 6, 2009.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Department of Parks and
Recreation.

A. REQUEST:
To accept and acknowledge a donation of playground equipment for Higashihara park.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED)
The Rotary Club of Kona Community Foundation would like to donate playground equipment to the
Department of Parks and Recreation.
The equipment will be installed at Higashihara Park and will be used to enhance recreational activities.
Estimated value: $10,000.00

RE: Resolution No. 130-09 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT FOR THE HIGASHIHARA PARK
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Finance Committee to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this
matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the
matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Finance Committee
for placement on its future agenda.
