Bill 385 Amends Chapter 5, Article 2 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as
(Draft 2) Amended), Relating to Building Energy Efficiency Standards. {Repeals
(2006-2008): Divisions 1-14 of Chapter 5, Article 2 of the Hawaii County Code, and replaces
those provisions with the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code,
March 2007 Edition, as amended. This would enable the County to meet national
and international energy standards, ensure that our residential and commercial
buildings are not only safe but also energy efficient, and move the County towards
the energy-efficiency goals established by the Sustainability 2050 Task Force.
Division 15 of Article 2, Chapter 5, relates to indigenous architecture as adopted by
Ordinance No. 07-164 and shall be retained as a separate article, as set out in
Section 4 of this bill.)
