The application for fiscal year 1999-2000 will be finished by November 15, 1998. Finance will review it, and then it will be made available for the grant applicants on November 24, 1998. Copies of the grants for all previous years can be retrieved from the Budget office of the Finance Department. A compilation of my files will also be available at the Legislative Auditor's office. This includes a current chart of the historical funding for all agencies from the fiscal year 1986- 87 to the present. There is also a list of pertinent communications and legislation on the subject of non-profit funding. I would also like to note that the year-end reports have been received from all the agencies that received money in fiscal year 1997-98. These are on file at the Legislative Auditor's office. Finally, one the most rewarding experiences as a public servant has been working with the non- profit agencies and human service providers in our community. Gov ~ << Non-profit Grants Review Timetable November 24, 1998 Application available at the Department of Finance. Public notice of its availability is printed in the local papers. January 29, 1999 Deadline to turn in applications at the Department of Finance. When all applications are in, the Legislative Auditor's and Grants Review Committee's copies are available for review. February 8-12, 1999 Applicants need to be called this week to prepare site visitation schedule. February 25, 1999 Deadline for public notice of Nonprofit Organizations site visits (March 8-12, 1999) March 8-12, 1999 Site visits March 15, 1999 Special HSEDC meeting-Hilo Nonprofit applicants (Council chambers at 10:00 A.M.) March 18, 1999 Special HSEDC meeting-Kona Nonprofit applicants (meeting place to be determined at 10:00 A.M.) March 25, 1999 Committee Deadline (4:30 P.M.). Grant review committee's recommendations need to be ready for the April 7, 1999 HSEDC meeting. April 7, 1999 HSEDC meeting-Nonprofit Organizations funding recommendations. If the recommendations are not deferred in committee, the approved recommendations are sent to the mayor and forwarded to the full council for inclusion in the budget. July 1, 1999 First quarterly payment to applicants awarded grants for fiscal year 1999-2000 is disbursed by finance to the recipients. July 5-9, 1999 A letter should be drafted reminding the grant recipients for fiscal year 1998-1999 that their year-end reports are due August 29, 1999 (the reporting requirements are outlined in Section 2-142 (d) of the Hawaii County Code). August 29, 1999 Year-end reports due from agencies that received grants in fiscal year 1998-1999.
