Your Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred
Communication 211, reports as follows:
Communication 211 from Mayor Kenoi, dated February 18, 2009 nominates Carol R. Ignacio of
Council District 1 to the Hawaii County Police Commission.
Council members Naeole, Ikeda, and Hoffman spoke highly of their experiences with
Ms. Ignacio in other areas of public service. Council members Greenwell and Ford requested
Ms. Ignacio to be alert and sensitive as to how the Police Department may share in the burden of
cutting County expenditures.
Committee members agreed that it would not be necessary for Ms. Ignacio to appear before full
Council for final confirmation.
Your Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation is in accordance with the purpose
and intent of Communication 211 and recommends the appointment of Carol R. Ignacio to the
Hawaii County Police Commission.
