RESOLUTION NO. 155 09
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO
A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the Police Department conducts several preventive programs at schools
and in the community in an effort to reduce crime, drug abuse, violence and provide a safe
school environment; and
WHEREAS, as community helpers, police officers will visit a requesting school,
covering pre-school and kindergarten through the third grade, to teach the youngsters the role
of the police officer and their duties and, more importantly, try to make the youngsters
understand that the police officer is their friend; and
WHEREAS, a session will typically feature an explanation of the equipment an officer
carries, a lecture on traffic safety, getting along with society and respecting your parents,
followed by a question answer period with a finale of issuing a "Your Friend the Police
Officer" coloring book along with a gold "Junior Police Officer" badge; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
the Hawaii County Police Department to be used towards the purchase of Junior Police Officer
badge stickers; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Chief of Police and Director of Finance and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
