Re: Transmitting Bill 73, Draft 2
Attached please find Bill 73, Draft 2, which incorporates those amendments contained in
Communication No. 286.1 that were duly approved at the May 5, 2009, Public Works and
Intergovernmental Relations Committee.
Bill 73, Draft 2, amends chapter 5, article 1, section 5-1.0.8 and chapter 21, article 2,
section 21-5 of the Hawaii County Code to allow the use of a tent or a structure of
similar type as a temporary residence for a period not to exceed three years, providing
there is adequate sanitation and an active building permit.
The amendment removed the minimum land size provision, which required at least one acre of
land to qualify for the exemption.
