Re: Resolution for multi-year lease co
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year
for the lease of six (6) refuse trailers for the Department of Environmental Management
Solid Waste Division. These new refuse trailers will be replacing six 1996 trailers that
are reaching the end of their useful lives and are incurring costly mechanical and
structural repairs.
The Solid Waste Fund does not have the resources to purchase the referenced
equipment and therefore request the authority to enter in a lease agreement for five (5)
years.

A. REQUEST:
Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease agreement for six (6) 75 cubic yard refuse
trailers for a period of five (5) years for the Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Solid Waste Division is requesting to replace six (6) 1996 Brothers 75 Cubic Yard Refuse trailers. These
1996 trailers are reaching the end of their useful lives and are incurring costly mechanical and structural
repairs. These trailers are used daily, hauling refuse from the transfer stations to either East or West
HawaiTs landfill. Daily use of the trailer's blade and hydraulic pistons to compact the refuse have caused
them to become worn.
Refuse trailers must be maintained in operable condition to manage the solid waste, to maintain compliance
with State and Federal regulations governing solid waste management and to be in compliance with safe
highway operations as mandated by law.
This equipment will be lease financed such that the County will own the equipment at the end of the five year
lease.
