Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Louis Kaoiwi of Council District 4 to the Hawai'i County Fire
Commission. Mr. Kaoiwi is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. He retired as a State of Hawai'i Kulani
Correctional Facility - Watch Lieutenant Supervisor in 1996.
Mr. Kaoiwi is familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the Fire Commission. He served as
a charter member from 2001 to 2003. He presently serves as a member of the Hawai'i County
Police Commission. Mr. Kaoiwi is also the current Finance Committee Director for the Hawai'i
County Economic Opportunity Council (HCEOC). He states that he is not affiliated with any
political party. If confirmed, Mr. Kaoiwi will serve a term to end on December 31, 2013,
replacing Mr. Wilfred Okabe, whose term expired on December 31, 2008.
