Dear Chair Yoshimoto and Members of the County Council:
I am writing in support of the nomination of Bobby Jean Leithead-Todd for the
position of Planning Director.
As a long-time Planning Department employee, I have had the distinct pleasure
of working with Ms. Leithead-Todd in various capacities, and can attest that she
has the background, knowledge and experience fundamental to the position of
Planning Director. There is no doubt that her extensive legal background will be
a vital asset as she continues to lend a well-balanced perspective to land use
matters.
In the short time that BJ has been with the Planning Department, she has
developed an excellent working relationship and rapport with staff. In recent
weeks, she has established an open door policy to better facilitate
communication and has shown a genuine sensitivity to staff and public concerns.
BJ understands the importance of fiscal responsibility, and is resourceful in
financial matters. As a former and respected member of the County Council and
Director of the Department of Environmental Management, her experience will
serve her well as she continues to strive to attain optimal fiscally sound decisions
given the current economic environment.
On a more personal level, BJ has an outstanding moral character, and is a very
engaging individual who is easily approachable. She is respected and admired
by many, and will be a wonderful asset to the Planning Department. Her
enthusiasm and passion to strive for fairness and objectivity will serve as a
positive role model for the County.
In closing, I humbly ask that you support Ms. Leithead-Todd's nomination for
Planning Director.
