A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATEll FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Elderly Activities Division (EAD) provides
comprehensive and coordinated services for older individuals, which promote maximum
independence, optimum health, personal dignity and self-enrichment; and
WHEREAS, EAD offers older adults 55 years and older many educational and
recreational choices and various opportunities and services to enhance their quality of life, such
as employment, volunteer opportunities, transportation, escort, information and assistance, in-
home services (chore and personal care), recreational activities, congregate meals and home-
deliveredmeals; and
WHEREAS, the unanticipated rise in costs associated with the implementation of the
programs has caused a shortfall in the Division's budget; and
WHEREAS, this shortfall may result in the scaling back of services provided throughout
each district within our County; and
WHEREAS, due to the exigent nature of the circumstances, funds from the Clerk
Council Services OCE will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation, Elderly
Activities Division to be used towards expenses related to continuous services for our older
adults island-wide; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Parks and Recreation Director and Director of Finance and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
