RESOLUTION NO. 193 09
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND
FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S).
WHEREAS, the Hawaiian Academy of Arts and Science Center School (HAAS), a 501 (c)(3)
nonprofit organization, that cater to our youth in the Puna area and the only school that has surfing on
it's daily curriculum; and
WHEREAS, the Poho`iki Bay Surfing Classic is an annual event in its third year hosting a
long board surfing contest for youths and adults and a short board division for kids and women; and
WHEREAS, the 3rd annual Boogie's Longboard surfing classic will be held on July 3rd, 4°i,
and 5`h 2009 at Poho`iki Beach; and
WHEREAS, this event calls attention to an area of our island that is dedicated to preserving
the practice of one of the oldest cultural sports in the world, Poho`iki Bay; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from District 5 will be appropriated to the Department
of Parks and Recreation for the Poho`iki Bay Surfing Classic; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to Director of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Finance and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
