No. 202/Bill No. 53 PLACE: Council Chambers TIME: 11:02 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 53, reports as follows: Bill No. 53, transmitted by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 202 dated March 10, 2009, amends Ordinance No. 08-78, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending June 30, 2009. The amendment is as follows: Account No. Source Fund Amount 3303.98 Federal Grants - Healthy Aging/Chronic Disease Self Management General $ 16,000 Total $ 16,000 Account No. Function and Activity Fund Amount 010.411.5411.93 Healthy Aging/Chronic Disease Self Management General $ 16,000 Total $ 16,000 Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for the Office of Aging for its Healthy Aging/Chronic Disease Self Management Program. Councilmember Hoffmann asked what this program was all about. Deputy Director of Finance Deanna Sako explained that this was federal money to track changes in the aging population. Ms. Sako said she would ensure Mr. Parker from the Office of Aging was at full council to answer questions. Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 53, and recommends it pass first reading.
