HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1906-016County of Hawaii, Territory of Hawaii Ordinance No. 16 RELATING TO SIDEWALKS WITH- IN THE COUNTY OF HAWAII. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Hawaii: Section 1. All owners of ]ands abutting on and adjoining any public street within the County of Hawaii, whenever such street shall have been improved by the laying off or con- struction of sidewalks, or otherwise, shall at their own expense, within thirty days after receiving notice from the Covnty or District Road Super- visor, curb the sidewalks adjacent to the land so owned by them with sub- stantial curbing, to be oP good quality lava rock in blocks not less than eighteen U8) inches long, six (0) inches thick at the top edge and suf- ficiently wide to be firmly in place by Lhe street paving or sidewalks, or 2x12 inches planking set edge-ways sup- ported by stakes. At street corner curb to be carried around on a curve, the radios of which to be not less than width of sidewalks. Section 2. All curbing laid under the provisions of this Ordinance shall be laid, jointed and set 1n a good substantial and workmanlike manner, and in accordance with the direc- tion and under the supervision of the County or District Road Supervisor. Section 3. All owners of lands abutting on and adjoining any public streets after curbing has been laid, shall at their own expense keep their sidewalks clean and free of all weeds and other vegetable matter, provided however, should the owners have grass grown thereof they shall keep same cut so same shall not be a nui- sance ar incom~enience to the public passing thereon. Section 4. Any person, firm or cor- poration who shall violate any of the provisions of this Ordinance, shall be ftned not exceeding One Hundred Dollars. Section 5.
