Ordinance No. 44
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO
HACK STANDS IN THE TOWN OF
HILO, AND REGULATING THE
USE AND OCCUPATION THERE-
OF, AND REPEALING ALL ORDI-
NANCES IN CONFLICT THERE-
WITH.
Be it ordained by the Board of Sup-
ervisors of the County of Hawaii.
Section 1. The following stands are
hereby set apart for licensed car-
riages in the Town of Hilo.
Stand No. 1. North side of King
Street along the Court House square,
facing west.
Stand No. 2. South side of Waia-
nuenue Street along the Court House
square, facing mauaa.
Stand No. 3. South side of Waia-
nuenue Street from the makai side of
the Hilo Railroad track and extend-
ing to the United States Light House;
two hacks from the said stand to be
allowed on the South side of Waianue-
nue Street in front of the Volcano Sta-
bles, and two hacks along the old
Turner Store; and after S p. m. two
hacks from the said stand to be al-
lowed on the North side of Waianue-
nue 6treet and directly opposite the
Volcano Stables.
Stand No. 4. South side of Ship-
man Street, opposite the Fish Market,
facing makai.
Stand No. 5. South side of King
Street, beginning at the corner of
Front and King Streets, facing makai.
Stand No. 6. Beginning at the
Northwest corner of Mooheau Park
and running along the makai side of
Front Street, facing north.
Stand No. 7. Waiakea Road oppo-
site Hayashi Hotel, facing west.
Stand No. 8. Church Street, im-
mediately and wholly in front of Gov-
ernor Baker's ]and, facing makai.
Stand No. 9. North side oY Richard-
son Street beginning at the Northeast
corner of said Richardson Street and
Bridge Street, facing west.
Section 2. On all stands set apart
for licensed carriages, horses must be
headed parallel with the street and
close to the sidewalk.
6ection 3. Stands shall be kept in
order and clear of filth by the owners
and drivers of the vehicles to whom
they may be assigned.
Section 4. Each and every licensed
driver in the Town of Hilo shall file in
the office of the Sheriff of the County
of Hawaii, the hack stand taken by
him, which hack stand number shall
be entered by the Sheriff on the dr;v-
er's license, and no driver shall
change his hack stand except by and
with the approval of the 6heriff of the
County of Hawaii, or the Deputy Sher-
iff of South Hilo.
Section 5. If any licensed vehicle
shall be found standing in any other
place than its appointed stand, except-
ing for a temporary errand, the driver
shall be liable to arrest by any police
officeq unless said driver shall be un-
der engagement.
Section 6. Any person who shall
violate any of the terms of this ordi-
nance shall be fined not more than
Twenty-five Dollars.
Section 7. A11 ordinances in con-
flict with the provisions of this ordi-
nance are hereby repealed.
6ection S. This ordinance shall
take effect from and after the date of
its adoption.

Ordinance was regularly considered
at a meeting oY the Board of Sup-
ervisors of the County of Hawaii,
held at the County Seat upon the
9th day of June, A. D. 1911, and
upon being put to vote said Ordinance
was adopted by a majority of the Sup-
ervisors at said meeting.
