PROVIDING FOR THE EXHIBITING
OF MOVING PICTURES OF AN EDU-
CATIONAL OR BIBLICAL CHARAC-
TER IN THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
ON SUNDAYS AND PROVIDING
RESTRICTIONS TRF.REON AND RE-
PEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ROARD
OF SUPERVISORS OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII
Section 1. Any person desiring to
exhibit to the public in the County
of Hawaii on Sunday any moving pic-
ture film or films shall make applica-
tion for a license to the Treasurer of
the County of Hawaii. The said ap-
plloation shall be in writing, shall set
forth the name and address of the ap-
plicant, the occupadion of the appli-
cant, the location and character of the
building in which saidfilm or films are
to be shown and the name and char-
acter of said film or films, and astate-
,;~ent that such film or films are of
ai} educational or biblical character,
and shall be signed and sworn to by
the said applicant before a Notary
Public.
Section 2. No film or films other
thµn those of an educational or biblic-
al ctlaraeter shall be exhibited at any
Sunday' moving picture show.
Section 3. IIpon the receipt of an
application properly executed the
Treasurer shall issd° to the applicant
a ]lcense subject to the payment of the
fee Prescribed by law.
Section 4. In case any pert?n hold-
ing a license for conducting a Sun-
day moving picture show sAal] ex-
hibit any film or films not of an edu-
cational or biblical character, he shall
not be entitled thereafter for a period
of three months to receive any such
license and shall be guilty of a misde-
meanor for which he shall be punished
by a fine of not more than One Hun-
dred ($100.00) Dollars for the first
offenre. In case oP a second offense
such person shall not be entitled
thereafter Por a period of six months
to receive any such license and shall
be punished by a fine of not more
than Two Hundred and FlPty ($250.00)
Dollars. The Treasurer shall hate
the right to deny any such license to
such person violating the provisions
of this Ordinance, even though no
oriminal proceedings are instituted.
Section 5. The Treasurer may re-
quire any applicant to exhibit to him
such film or films which the said ap-
plicant may desire to exhibit at n
Sunday moving picture chow where-
by he may ascertain whether such
film or film.; are of an educational or
biblical character.
Section 6. Al] Ordinances in con-
flict with the Provisions of this Ordi-
nanre are hereby repealed.
Section 7. This Ordinance shall
take effect from and after the date of
its approval.
