HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1916-069TERRITORY OF HAWAII, COUNTY OF HAWAII Ordinance No. 69 REGULATING THE RATE OF AU- TOMOBILE FARES FOR THE CITY OF HILO, AS DEFINED BY THIS ORDINANCE. Be it ordained by the Board of Sup- ervisors of the County of Hawaii: Section 1. The City limits of Hilo, for the purposes oY this ordinance shall be defined as follows: Mahiulu bridge on the north; 1 mile post Kaumana Rcad; upper end of cemetery on Ponahawai Street on the West; Waiakea Mill on Volcano Road on the South; Waiakea school house and Reed's Bay on the East. Section 2. The rates of automo- bile fares and charges shall be as follows: A. From any point to any other point within the City limits, when not exceeding 'h mile, for one or two passengers, the fare shall not exceed .__..__._............____...._____....._..._._... $.25 B. When exceeding 'Fs mile and not exceeding 1 miL, for each pas- senger, the fare shall not exceed $.25 C. When exceeding one mile and not over two miles, and within the City limits, for one or two passeng- ers, the fare shall not exceed ..............$.50 D. If exceeding two miles and not exceeding three miles and within the City limits, for each passenger, the fare shall not exceed_......__........_......$.50 E. When answering calls within City limits, distance may be counted from the automobile stand to the place of destination. F. When automobiles in the City of Hilo are ordered by telephone from any polnt outside of the City limits. or ordered to return for passengers left at any given point outside of the City limits, half fare may be charged for going to answer Call or Order. G. If within the City, ten minutes' time in waiting shall be allowed to all return passengers without extra charge. Waiting for a longer time may be charged at the rate of 25 cents for each quarter hour, or frac- tion thereof, H. For each automobile attending a funeral, time not to exceed two hours, and used within the City limits, fare shall not exceed....____...._.._.....$3.00 I. Shopping or making calls when at least half of the time is taken up on detention: One passenger per hour, fate shall not exceed _....._____.......__.._._.........$1.00 Two passengers per hour, fare shall not exceed .............$1.50 Three passengers per hour, fare shall not exceed _ .............._...__.....__52.00 Four passengers per hour, fare shall not exceed $2.50 For each additional hour, 50 cents for each passenger, when more than one. J. ContSnuous driving by the hour: One or more passengers per hour, the fare shall not exceed _......_..........$4.00 FL. A child under three years old, when with a grown person, no charge; over three years old and not more than ten years old, half fare. L. No extra charge shall be made for a single hand grip, dress suit case or pac:;age. M. On each small box, grip or package, more than one carried with passengers, 25 oencs each. N. Between the hours of 9 p. m. and 5 a. m. if outside of Honolii on the Hilo-Hamakaa road, the above fare may be doubled; within the said limits, the rates may be doubled only between the hours of 11 p, m. and 5 a. m. Section 3. Every chauffeur having an automobile in the rent shall have at all times a card of the foregoing rates and he shall, upon the request of any person, show the same to the said Person. Section 4. No automobile shall be compelled to go upon sny road, lane or alley unless the same is a recog- nized government highway. Section 5. Any person who shall v?olate or fail to obsorve any of the requirements of this ordinance shall be fined not more than Twenty-flue ($25.00) Dollars for each such viola- tion, and the license of any such licensed automobile or chauffeur may, in the discretion of the court, be can- celled.
