HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1916-074ORDINANCE NO. 74 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE NAMING OF THE PUBLIC STREETS, HIGHWAYS AND ROApS IN THE CITY OF HILO, COUNTY OF HAWAII. WHEREAS, there has been passed and adopted AN ORDINANCE for the Numbering of Houses and Nam- ing of the Streets in the City Limits of Hilq, County of Hawaii, therefore, Section 1. Be it ordained by the Board of Supervisors in and for the County of Hawaii, that the names of the following streets are hereby dedi- cated and ordained as follows: Front Street shall hereafter b° known as Kamehameha 6treet. New cpncrete road to Kuhio Wharf from Front Street shall be known as Kalaniapaole StreeS. Bridge Street shall be known as Keawe Street. Church Street shall be known as Haili Street. Pitmap Street shall be known as Kinoole Street. Pleasant Street shall be known as Ululani Street. Reed Street shall be known as Kafulanl Sheet. Richardson Street shall be known as Mamo Street. Volcano Street shall be known as Kilauea Street. School Street shall be known as Kapiolanl Street. Ruth Street shall be known as Keliikolani Street. Mud vane Street shall be known as Piopio Street. Piopip Street shall be known as Pauahi Street. Wharf Street shall be known as Mamame Street. Cocogaut Island Street shall be known as Kainehe Street. Kuhio Street shall be known as Kekaulike Street. Irwin Street shall be known as Kanoa 6treet. Scott Street shall be known as Kauila Street. Kennedy Street shall be known as Iliahi Street. King 6treet shall be known as Ka- lakaua Street. Dog Lane shall be known as Kou Lane. Section 2. It shall be the duty of the County Engineer to have the proper names of the streets put up on all crossings as provided for by ordinance. Section 3. Any new street that shall hereafter be opened for public use shall first have the name or names submitted to the Board of Supervisors for approval before such name shall be declared the name of such street.
