AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE
FOR A MACHINE SHOP FOR
THE REPAIR OF MOTOR VE-
HICLES IN THE PUBLIC SERV-
ICE BY THE COUNTY OF HA-
WAII.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF
THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
Section 1. CREATION OF DE-
PARTMENT. There is hereby
created and established a depart-
ment for the County of Hawaii to
be known as the "COUNTY MA-
CHINE SHOP" This department
shall be in charge of a competent
mechanic as Superintendent there-
of, who shall have the power and
supervision over said department
and of all functions.
Section 2. FIINCTIONS. The de-
partment above created shall:
(a) Have charge of the upkeep
and repairing of all automobiles,
trucks, wagons, steam rollers, fire
fighting apparatus, and all other
machinery, implements and tools
belonging to the County of Hawaii
except such stationary machinery as
may be repaired by the department
having control thereof.
(b) Furnish all parts in the re-
pair of machinery, automobiles,
trucks, wagons, steam rollers and
fire fighting apparatus.
(c) By proper method keep a
check upon the use of all automo-
biles, trucks, wagons, steam rollers
and all other machinery, imple-
ments and tools belonging t0 the
County of Hawaii.
Section 3. REPAIRS. Al] re-
pairs upon any automobile, wagon,
truck, steam roller or machinery
belonging to the County of Hawaii
must be made at the County Ma-
chine Shop except as herein pro-
vided or except repairs made in as
emergency; provided, however, that
the Board of Supervisors may by
resolution order the repairs made
elsewhere.
Section 4. BOOKS. it shall be
the duty of the Superintendent of
the "COUNTY MACHINE SHOP"
to keep such system of books as
shall be approved by the Auditor
and the Board of Supervisors so as
to properly charge against the pro-
per department and fund the cost
of the service rendered by this de-
partment, and said cost shall be as
charged.
Section 5. PAYMENT FOR MA-
TERIALS,SUPPLIES AND SERV-
ICES. Said department shall pay
for all the materials and supplies
from an appropriation made for
such purpose by the Board of Su-
pervisors. The Superintendent shall
file claims with the Board of Su-
pervisors against the several depart-
ments for all services rendered and
materials furnished by the County
Machine Shop, and upon the pay-
ment of such claims the moneys
received from such claims shall be
deemed reappropriated for the pur-
pose of said County Machine Shop.
Section 6. REPORTS. The Su-
perintendent of the "County Ma-
chine Shop" shall make a full re-
port to the Board of Supervisors
not later than the end of each
quarter of all oY the affairs of his
department, including t h e r e i n
among other things, work done,
stock on hand and purchased dur-
ing the quarter, said report shall be
made in such form and manner as
shall be approved by the Board of
Supervisors.
Section 7. This Ordinance shall
take effect from and after the date
of its approval.

Board of Supervisors of the County
of Hawaii, held at the County Seat

said Ordinance was adopted by a
majority of the Supervisors at said
meeting.
