Section 1. There is hereby established a pound for the County of
Hawaii for the impounding and disposition of unlicensed, stray er

diseased dogs and csts.
SectionC. The chief administering officer of the pound shall be
the dog warden, who shall. be appointed by t}ie Chairman of the Board of
supervisors, with the approval of the .Board, and deemed a department
head under the provisions of Chapter 2, Part IlI, Section 77, Subsection
D, R.L.H. 1945. He shall receive such salary ar:d remuneration as may
be fixed by the Board of Supervisors of the County and he shs11 be re-
quired to dive official. bond i.n the sum. of ~5,000.CO, conditioned upon
thy. faitrful perforr7ance oP his duties.
Section 3. The doer warden shall keep accurate records and shall
make a monthly repo*~t of all his transactions end activities to the
Beard of Supervisors, as well as such other reports as may be rer}aired
by the Board of ~upervi.sors. He shall. have charga, control and manage-
ment of all matters pertaining to th.e public pound; subject to the.
ap~~roval of the Board of Supervisor.+, he is empowered to make al.l
reasonebl.e rules and regulations for the efficient management of" the
pound.
section 4_. He is further authorized and empowered to seize and
impound all stray and diseased. cats, all unlicensed, strs,y and diseased
dogs running et larEe, and to dispose of the same all in accordance vnth ', ~'~'

the~pro~isi.ons of Chapter 134, Hevi::ed Laws of Hawaii 1945, end as
hereafter amended.
Section 5. Subject to such rules and regulations as may be fixed.
by the Board of Supervisors, the dog warden is authori-zed to accept
for safekeeping and boarding dogs and cats in the pound, and foa• :uch ~

incidental work in and upon the pour!d, sha17 be provided with suitable
living quarter9 which shall be established in a •sepa.rate building within
