ORDINANCE N0. 9 S'
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 20, 27, 50, AND 55 OF ORDINANCE 89 OF
THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, 1950, PERTAINING TO THE REGULATION OF TRAFFIC
UPOid THE PUBLIC STREETS AND HIGHWAYS OF THE GOUNTY OF HAWAII.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IN AND FCR THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII:
Section 1. Section 20 of Ordinance B9 of the County of Hawaii,
1950, is hereby amended by inserting new subsections (k), (1}, and (m)
to read as follows:
"(k) On the makai side of Kailas. Road, in Kona, from the
Kailua EGharf to a point measuring e$$ht hundred (S00}
feet in a southeasterly direction.
(1) On the mauka side of Mamalahoa Highway, in Honokaa,
between the Old Haina Road and the Honokaa Post Of-
fice.
(m) On Kanoa Street."
Section 2. Sections 27, 50, Paragraph B-k, and 55 of Ordi-
Hance 89 of the County of Hawaii, 1950, are hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 27. Standing or parking close to curb. Upon any
roadway within the County of Hawaii no person shall stand
or park a vehicle other than parallel with the edge of the
roadway, headed in the direction of traffic, and with the
curbside wheels of the vehicle within twelve inches of the
edge of the roadway, except as provided in the following
paragraphs:

(a) In places where and at hours when stopping for
the loading or unloading oP merchandise or
materials is permitted, vehicles used for the`
transportation of merchandise or materials may
back into the curb to take on or discharge loads
when the owner of such vehicle holds a permit is-
sued by the chief of police granting him such
privilege, and such permit shall be either in the
possession of tj~ driver or on the vehicle at the
time such vehicle is backed against the curb to
take on or discharge a load, and it shall be un-

(b) While parked wholly within parking spaces marked
or designated pursuant to Section 23 of this or-
dinance .
(c) Upon Kilauea Street, between Ohea and Haihai
Streets, vehicles shall park in single file along
the center and unpaved portion, parallel with the
edge of the roadway.
"Section 50, Paragraph B-1~.
Waianuenue Street, between Kinoole Street and Kamehameha
Avenue, except between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 8:15
a.m. on school days.
"Section 55. Stop before entering through streets and before
entering intersections where stop signs are erected.
(a) When stop signs, officially designated, are erected
upon streets or highways intersecting env thiro ugh
street at the entrance thereto, or upon any other
street or highway at the entrance to any intersec-
tion, every driver of a vehicle arri every driver
or operator of any moving vehicle shall stop at
the stop ~.ine; provided, however, that in the event
there is no stop line, then said driver or operator
shall stop at the nearest line marking the cross-
walk at such entrance; and provided, further, that
in the event there are no such lines, then said
driver or operator shall stop at the place where
such street meets the prolongation of the nearest
property line of such through street or other
street or highway to be entered.
(b} The "stop line" shall be a clearly visible white
line extending across the right half of the road-
way and placed on streets and highways having such
stop signs.
(c) The following streets or indicated portions thereof
are through streets, as defined in paragraph (d),
Section 4, of this ordinance:
(1) AINAKO AVENUE, from Kaumana Road to
Waianuenue Street.
(2) ANDREWS AVENUE.
3) AMAUULU ROAD, from `Wainaku Avenue to its
end. '
(4) BAKER AVENUE.
(5) BANYAN DRIVE, from Aalapuna Street to
Kalanianaole Street.
(6) BRAWN AVENUE.
(7) CAMP 8 ROAD, Erma Kawailani Street to its
end in a westerly direction.
(8) HAIHAI STREET, from Kinoole Street to the
Camp 8 Road.
(9) HAILI STREET. frmn Kinoole Street to HA~A
(11) The Hawaii Belt Road.
(12) THE HIGHWAY known as the Kailua-Keauhou
Beach Road, from Kailua Wharf to Kesuhou
Beach in Kona.
(13) THE HIGHt~AY known as the Kamuela to Haxi
Road from Mamalahoa Highway at Kamusla to
the Niulii 14ahukona Road in Haxi.
(]Ja) THE HIGHWAY known ae the Middle Road, from
Kealakekva where it intersects the 14amalahoa
Highway to Keokea where it again intersects
the Mamalahoa Highway in Kona.
(15) THE HIGHWAY known as the Niulii Mahukona
Road, from Mahukona Wharf to Niulii in
Kohala.
(16) THE HIC2iWAY known ae the Olaa to Kapoho
Road, from Olaa to Kapbho.
(17) THE HIGfiWAY known as the Saddle Road, from
the road leading to the Hilo Country Club
in Hilo, to the Mamalahoa Highway at
Kamuela in Kohala.
(1S) HINANO STREET, except at Piilani and
Kekuanaoa Streets.
(19) HOKU STREET, from Kilauea Street to Kinoole
Street.
(20) HUALAI.AI STREET, from Kilauea Street to
Kinoole Street.
(21) IOI,AAII STREET.
(22) KEKUANAOA STREET, from Kilauea to Kanoe-
lehua Streets, except at Maxono Street.
(23) KAINEHE STREET, from Kamehameha Avenue
to Aalapuna Street..
(24) KAIUI.ANI STREET, from Rfaianuenue Street
to its end.
(Q5) KAIWIKI ROAD, from x~a~Ahoa Highway to
its end.
(26) KAlANIANAOLE STREET, Yran Kamehameha Avenue
