AN ORDINANOS AYSbIDING ORDINANCE N0, k5 OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII 1947 KNOWN AS THE 20NING ~iDINANCE OF THB COUNTY OF
HAWAII. `
BE IT ORDAINED HY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IN AND FOR THB COUNTY OF
HAWAII:
Section 1. Section 2 is hereby amended by adding thereto the fol-
lowing:
"Home occupation" shall include any occupation or profession
carried on by a member of the family residing on the premi~a
provided that:
1. No article ie sold or offered for sale except as
may be processed or manufactured by maabera of the
family residing on the premises.
2. The occupation or profession is an incidental uae
and the residence a primary use.
3. No mechanical equipment is used except ouch as is
normally used for dcaiestic or household purposes.
4. No sign or display is used in connection with said
occupation or profession."
Section 2. Subsection D of Section 19 is hereby amended by add-
ing thereto the following:
"For the purpose bf this ordinance, "discontinuance" shall
result Prom the occurrence of any of the following condition
or conditions:
1. Vacancy of a building originally deaigtaad or ar-
ranged for the non-conforming use for a continaous
period of 1 year, or
2. Vacancy of land for a period of 90 days, or
3. Vacancy of any building other than in (1) for a
period of 6 months, or
4. Aqp showing of a clear intent on the part of the
owner to abandon the non-conforming uae."

use of a building may be changed to another non-conforming
use of a similar or more restricted classification. Y(hen-
ever anon-conforming use has been changed to a mors res-
tricted use or to a conforming use, such use shall not
F thereafter be changed to a leas restricted use."
Section'4. Section 21A shall be added after Section 21 to read
as follows:
°Section 21A. All variances heretofore and hereafter granted
will be void unless construction is started xithin one year.
An extension in time may be granted by the Ccamiisaion if
practical difficulty and unnecessary hardship wore ahosm by
the applicant.~~
Section 5. This ordinance shall take affect upon i~ts7a~pp-royal.
