HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1951-113COUNTY OF HAWAII - TERRITORY OF HAWAII ORDINANCE N0. ~~•3 AN ORDINANCE A4dENDING SECTIONS 20, lib, AND 51 OF ORDINANCE N0. 89 OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII 1950, AND ADDING A NEVI SECTION 21-A THERETO PER- TAIMNG TO THE REGULATION OF TRAFFIC UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS AND HIGH- WAYS OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IN pND FOR THE COUNTY OF HA7YAII That Ordinance No. 89 of the County of Hawaii 1950, as amended, is hereby amended in the Following respects: SECTION 1. Section 20, as amended, is hereby further amended by adding thereto Paragraph (q) and by amending Paragraph (o) to read as follows "(o) On the makai side of Kapiolani Street, between Ponahawai Street and Waianuenue Street, except on Sundays, between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. (q) On the makai side of Alenaio Drive in Hilo." SECTION 2, Anew section designated as Section 21-A is hereby added after Section 21 to read as follows: "Section 21-A. Time limit narking outside the city of Hilo. When official signs are erected giving notice thereof, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle fora period of time longer than that indicated on such signs between the hours indicated on such signs of any day except Sun- days and public holidays upon any of the following streets or portions thereof outside the city of Hilo: (a) One-hour parking areas: 1. L~amalahoa Hi~way in Honokaa, between the Haina Road intersection and the Hamakua District Court House." SECTIODI 3, Paragraph (a), Section 4S, is hereby amended to read as follows: "(a) The driver of any vehicle shall not turn such vehicle so as to proceed in the opposite direction upon any street in a business district, upon any four-laned highway, or at any intersection where traffic is ~r.L ~ ,.~, . .. /~-3 -- -- ~'- ~_'` l ~ is ~, z J''JL ,,.... controlled by traffic signal Iights; provided, however, that this section shall not apply to turning and pro- ceeding in the opposite direction at the intersection of Kamehameha Avenue and Shipman Streets, at the in- tersection of Mamalahoa Highway and Haina Road in Honokaa; and, provided further, that this section shall not be in force and effect between the hours of mid- night and 6:00 a.m. of each day." SECTION 4. Section 51, as amended, is further amended by adding thereto the following paragraph: "KAPIOLANI STREET. All vehicular traffic shall move only from the Hamakua to the Puna. direction between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Sundays." SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
