AN ORDINANCE A1~ENDING SECTIONS 20, 21, 5401, 61, 6l~, 79, AND 90 OF
ORDINANCE N0. 89 OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII 1950, AND REPEALING ALL
OTHER ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, PERTAIMNG TO THE REGULATION
OF TRAFFIC UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS AND HIGHWAYS OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII.
EE IT ORDAINED BY THE HOARD OF
HAWAII:
IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF
That Ordinance No. 89 of the County of Hawaii 1950 is hereby
amended in the following respects:
Section 1. Section 20, as amended, is hereby further amended
in the following respects:
a. By amending Subsections (d) and (p) to read as
follows:
"(d) The Hamakua side of Furnesux Street be-
tween Kamehameha Avenue and Kilauea
Street.
(p) On the Puna side of Kukuau Street from a
point 225 feet mauka of Kilauea Street
to Kinoole Street."
b. By adding Subsections (z), (aa), and (bb) to read as
follows:
"(z) The Hilo side of Mamalahoa Highway in
Honokaa (Lehua Street) frar~ the Hama
function to the Catholic Church.
(aa) The Puna side of Hanalei Lane (makai
extension of Hualalai Street) from
Kilauea Street to Josephine Lane.
(bb) Kinoole Street, from Kawailani Street
to the Puna boundary of VVaiakea-waena
School except for the paved parking
area provided on the makai aide."

Section Z. 5usection (a) of section 'Ll, as amended, is hereby
further amended by adding 4aragraph 16 to read as follows:

Section 3. Section 5b,01, as amended, is hereby further amended
to read as follows:
"Section 5b.01, Turn right anytime with caution intersec-
tions.

erected at any intersection, the driver of a vehicle
may make a right turn move~aent without coming to a stop
provided such movement is made with proper care to avoid
accident.
To enforce the provisions of this section, the chief
engineer or the territorial highway engineer are authorized
to erect said signs with the advice and approval
of the Planning and Traffic Uommission when the said
commission determines that said movement will facilitate
traffic flow within the intersection, and at the same
time provide adequate safety to pedestrians as well as
motorists."
Section 4. subsection (h) of Section bl, as amended, is hereby
further amended in the following respects:
a. Hy amending Paragraph 1 to read as follows:
"1. l'~ifteen miles per hour in the following areas:
a. All streets within the ldaiakea :dill i::unp 1
area.
b. [Sonawaena School Road from aamalahoa High-
way to the school.
c. All streets within ~anakila Homes area, ex-

b. Hy adding Subpara_^raph j to Paragraph 3 to re id as fol-
lows:

direction to its first intersection with Uhia
Street (Old Homestead Road),"

d. Hawaii Belt Road in Ninole from a point 1,300

Section >. Su section (c) of Section 64 is hereby amended to read
as follows:
"(e) L'very person who is convicted of a violation of this
section shall be punished by a fine of not less than
>100,00 nor more than $500.00,"
Section G, Subsection (b) of Section 79 is hereby amended to read
as follows:
"(b) ~Jkxere no sidewalks or safety lanes have been provided,
pedestrians traveling on and along the x•oadway shall
travel only on the left-hand edge thereof."
Section 7. Section 90 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 90. Red or green light or reflector prohibited in
front of vehicle.
No vehicle shall be equipped with any light or re-
flector which casts or reflects red or green toward
the front of said vehicle."
Section 8. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
