AN ORDINANCE APr1ENDING SECTIONS 1 AND 2 OF ORDINANCE 22 OF THE
REVISED ORDINANCES OF TtiE COUNTY OF HAWAII 1947 BY PERMITTING
CHILDREN UNDER SIX (6) YEARS OLD TO TRAVEL I'0 AND FROPd SCHOOL
UNA000~4PANIED BY ADULTS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII:
Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 22 is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Section 1. No child under the age of six (6)
years shall be permitted to go or remain on any public
street or highway in the County of Hawaii, except in
the company of his parent, guardian or an adult person,
provided, this section shall not be applicable where
such child is goin~ to or from schools or kindergartens,
public or private.
Section 2. Section 2 of Ordinance No. 22 is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Section 2. Any parent or guardian, having the
care, custody and control of a child under the age of
six (6) years, who shall knowingly, voluntarily or
carelessly suffer or permit such child to qo or remain
on any public street or highway in the County of Hawaii
unaccompanied by an adult person when such child is
not going to or from schools or kindergartens, public
or private, shall be punished by a fine of not less
than five dollars and not more than One Hundred Dollars."
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval. ~
