HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1956-167COUNTY OF HAWAII - TERRITORY OF HAWAII ORDINANCE N0. ~G AN ORDINANCE ANi?,NDING ORDINANCE N0. 3$ OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, PROVIDING FOR LID?IT'~'D FINANCIAL AID IN CASES OF DEATH OR INJURY SUFFERED BY JUNIOR POLICE OFFICERS IN LINE OF DUTY. BE IT ORDAIN'~7D BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: Section 1. Ordinance No. 3$ of the County of Hawaii as amended is hereby further amended to read as follows: "Section 1. Upon the contingencies and conditions hereinbelow set forth, the parents, or the parent, guardian or custodian o£ any member of the Junior Police of the County of Hawaii, shall be entitled to financial aid in the manner specified: (a) In the event that a member of the Junior Police Officers of the County of Hawaii receives any injury arising out of and in the course of the performance of his duties as a Junior Police Officer directing traffic in the County of Hawaii including but not limiting to the preparation to go on duty such as changing into uniform or procuring necessary equipment, as well as returning such equipment, the County of Hawaii shall pay for the cost of necessary medical care and hospitalization of any such member of the Junior Police Officers o£ the County of Hawaii so injured, but in any case not to exceed the sum of X5,000.00; fib) In the event that a member of the Junior Police Officers of the County of Hawaii receives any injury resulting in death arisin out of and in the course of the performance g , of his duties as a Junior Police Officer directing traffic in the County of Hawaii including but not limiting to the Oid. Section 2. Procedure. fiery injury shall be reported immediately or soon thereafter as practicable by the injured Junior Police Officer, or the Junior Police Officer in charge or the parents or guardian of the injured Junior Police Officer to the school authorities in charge of the Junior Police Officers and the police department; the police department shall conduct an investigation and submit a report of the circumstances surrounding the injury or death and the resulting claims to the County Chairman. Section 3. Where the services of a county physician are available, his services shall be utilized." Section 4.
