AN ORDINANCE RMENDIIVG ORDINANCE NO. lgy OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII, RELATING TO PARKS AND RECREATIOIJ, BY ANIENDING
SECTIONS 1 AND ~} THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAiiVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPEi`?VISORS OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII;
Section 1. Ordinance 1Vo. 1S9 of the County of
Hawaii is hereby ameneed in the following respects;
(1) By amending section 1 thereof to read as follows;
"Section 1. Department of parks and recreation.
There is hereby created a department of parks and
recreation of the county of Hawaii. The department
shall have charge of and shall administer, supervise
and maintain all public parla, recreational
facilities and playgrounds in the county of Hawaii
owned by said county or in its possession or
control other than the i~~unicipal Golf Course anc'.
Hilo Civic Auditorium, together with all equipment,
supplies and paraphernalia used in connection with
the same. The department is authorized and empowereu
to care for the recreational needs in the County of
Hawaii and provide such organized and supervised
games and recreation as shall be conducive to the
mental, physical and moral development of the
people of the county."
(2) By amending section ~{ thereof to read as follows;
"Section ~. Term of office. The term of
January 2, 1956, and three (3) members of each
commission shall be appointed for a term
ending at noon on January 2, 1959, thereafter
all appointments shall be for two years from
the date of expiration of the term f'or which
the predecessors were appointed. Any vacancy
shall be filled by appointment for the remainder
of the unexpired term."
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon
its approval.
