AN ORDINANCE AMENDING GRDINANC~3 NC. 147 OF THE CGUNTY GF HAWAII 1954, AS
AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 41, 69, 98, AND 103, PERTAINING TO THE RBGU-
LATION OF TRAFFIC UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS AND HIGH41AY5vF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPr1?VISORS IIJ AND FOR TH`3 COUIuTY OF HAWAII:
That Ordinance No. 147 of the County of Hawaii 1954, as amended, is hereby
further amended in the following respects:
Section 1. Subsection (b) of Section 41 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"(b) On any bridge less than 20 feet wide."
Section 2. Paragraph 6, Subsection (b) of Section 69, as amended, is
hereby further amended by adding subparagraph "1" after subparagraph "k" to
read as follows:
"1. Palani Road in Kona from the Hawaii Belt Road to Kuakini
Highway."
Section 3. Section 98, as amended, is hereby amended in the following
respects:
(a) By amending the first sentence to read as follows:
"Section 98. Lights.
No person shall operate a motor vehicle upon any highway
a half hour after sunset to a half hour before sunrise or at
any other time when, due to insufficient light or unfavorable
atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway
are not clearly discernible at a distance of 500 feet ahead ~,
unless such vehicle shall have in operation lighted lamps €i;
and illuminating devices as required by the provisions of the
Revised Laws of Hawaii and this ordinance. Any lighted head
lamps upon a parked vehicle shall be depressed or dimmed."
(b) By adding Subsections (f) and (g) to read as follows:
"(f) Fog Lamps.
Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed two
fog lamps mounted on the front at a height not less than 12
inches nor more than 30 inches above the level surface upon
which the vehicle stands and so aimed that when the vehicle
is not loaded none of the high-intensity portion of the light
to the left of the center of the vehicle shall at a distance

of 25 feet ahead project higher than a level of 4 inches below
the level of the center of the lamp from which it comes.
Lighted fog lamps meeting the above requirements may be used
with lower head-lamp beams. Fog lamps shall not be used in
substitution of head lamps, except under conditions of rain
or fob rendering disadvant,a,;;cous the use of head lamps."
Section 4
read as follows:
"(g) It shall be unlawful to use parking lamps when any
muter vehicle is in motion."
Section 103 is hereby amended by adding Subsection (c) to
"(c) After June 30, 1955, all taxicabs and busses shall be equipped
with signal lamps as provided by Subsection (d) of Section 95."
Section 5. This ordinance will take effect upon its approval.
