AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING F'OR THE ORDER OF SUCCESSION TO I~IE
OFFICE OF' THE CHAIKfvlnl~ ;iluD EXECUTIVE OFFICEK OF THE BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF HAudAII, IN THE EVENT OF CIVIL OK
MILITARY DISASTER.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD UF' SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY
OF HAVIAII:
Section 1. `;Jhen the Chairman and Executive Officer of
the County of Hawaii is unable to perform his duties as a
result of a civil or military disaster, the following county
officials, in the order named, shall assume that office:
(a) A member of the Board of Supervisors who has served
the longest continuous tenure as determined from the date of
said disaster on the Board of Supervisors shall assume the office
of the Chairman and Executive Officer.
'when there is more than one supervisor having the same
length of service, then, the supervisor representing the First
Senatorial District shall assume the office of the Chairman
and Executive Ufficer.
When there is more than one supervisor having the same
length. of service and representing the First Senatorial District,
then, the supervisor polling the largest number of votes in the
preceding general election shall assume the office of the
Chairman and Executive Officer.
(b) 'v^Jhen none of the members of the Board of Supervisors
is able to assume the office of the Chairman and Executive
Officer, then, the Administrative Aide shall assume the office
of Chairman and Executive Officer.
(c) When none of the members of the Board of Supervisors
nor the Administrative Aide is able to assume the office o.f the
Chairman and Executive Officer, then, the Promoter of Activities
shall assume the office of the Chairman and Executive Offioer.
(d) 'rJhen none of the members of the Board of Supervisors
nor the Administrative Aide, and the Promoter of Activities
are able to assume the office of the Chairman and Executive:
Officer, then, the Director of the Planning and Traffic Commission
shall assume the office of the Chainean and Executive Officer.
(e) When none of the members of the Board of Supervisors
nor the Administrative Aide, the Promoter of Activities, and
the Director of the Planning and Traffic Commission are able to
assume the office of the Chairman and Executive Officer, then,
the Personnel Director shall assume the office of the Chairman
and Executive Officer.
