AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 207 OF THE COUMY OF HAWAII,
AS AMENDED, (SALARY ORDINANCE OF 1959) RELATING TO NUMBERS OF
POSITIONS AND RATES OF COMPENSATION FOR ALL POSITIONS IN
DEPARTMEM S, CFICES AND OTHER AGENCIES OF THE COUMY OF HAWAII
UNDER THE LEGISLATIVE COMROL OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS BY
ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION TO BE NUMBERED 3.01 RELATING TO
OVERTIME.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IN AND FOR THE COUMY
OF HAWAII:
Section 1. Ordinance No. 207 of the county of Hawaii, as
amended, is hereby amended by adding thereto a new section to
be numbered 3.01 reading as follows:
"Section 3.01. Overtime. Any employee who is authorized
by his department head to perform overtime services in excess
of the maximum number of hours set by applicable provisions of
the Revised Laws of Hawaii, 1955, and any act amendatory thereto,
or any rule or regulation passed in pursuance thereof, shall be
entitled to compensatory time-off for work in excess of the required
maximum number of hours at the rate of one and one-half hours for
each hour of overtime work. Where the granting of compensatory
time-off would result in a hardship to any department, board
or. agency, compensation at the rate of one and one-half hours for
each hour of overtime work may be paid in cash upon the written
approval of the county Chairman prior to the commencement of the
overtime work, and certification of availability of funds by the
Finance Committee prior to such payment."
Section 2, This ordinance shall take effect as of January 1,
