ORDINANCE N0. 129
AMENDINGASECTIONAL~07GOF THE UNIFORMUBUILDING CODEOUT96HELTERS,
EDITION, AS ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE N0. 122, AND AMENDING SECTION
16 OF ORDINANCE N0. 122 OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IN AND FOR THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII:
Section 1. Section 1}07 of the Uniform Building Code,
1961 Edition, providing for definitions and abbreviations,
as adopted by Ordinance: No. 122 of the County of Hawaii is
hereby amended by addi ng thereto the following term, to be
appropriately categorized under Section 1}07:
`F'allout shelter' is a structure or building
whose primary purpose is to attenuate radiation
within limits prescribed by the Civil Defense Agency."
Section 2. Section 16 of Ordinance No. 122 of the County
~~ of Hawaii, relating to building permit fees, is amended by
adding the following paragraph thereto:
~~~~ "Notwithstanding the provisions oP Section 303
of the Uniform Building Code, 1961 Edition, relating
to building permit fees, any person, firm or
corporation constructing; P fallout shelter shall not
be charged a building permit fee for the construction
of a structure to be used exclusively as a fallout
shelter, or that portion of a structure to be
occupied exclusively as a fallout shelter."
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.
