ORDINANCE NO. 286
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1.i.8 OF ORDINANCE NO. 25, THE
TRAFFIC CODE OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, PERTAINING TO THE
REQUIRED POSITION AND METHOD OF TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IN AND FOR THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section L~8 of Ordinance No. 25, the Traffic
Code of the County of Hawaii, is hereby amended to read as
follows;
"SECTION 1+8. Required position and method of
turning at intersections. The driver of a vehicle
intending to turn at an intersection shall do so as
follows:
"(a) Right Turns. Both the approach for a right
turn and a right turn shall be made as close as practicable
to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway.
"(b) Left Turns. The driver of a vehicle intending
to turn left at any intersection shall approach the
intersection in the extreme left-hand lane lawfully
available to traffic moving in the same direction of said
vehicle and after entering the intersection the left turn
shall be made so as to leave the intersection in a lane
lawfully available to traffic moving in such direction
upon the roadway being entered.
"(c) In all cases where official marks, buttons or
signs are placed within or adjacent to intersections, no
driver of a vehicle shall execute a turn at such inter-
sections otherwise than as directed and required by such
markers, buttons or signs."

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 48 OF ORDINANCE NO. 25, THE
TRAFFIC CODE OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, PERTAINING TO THE
REQUIRED POSITION AND METHOD OF TURNING AT A1Q INTERSECTIOiQ.
This Bill amends Section 48 of Ordinance No. 25,
pertaining to the required position and method of turning
at an intersection.

APJ ORDINANCE AMENDIAIG SECTION 119.01 OF ORDINANCE NO. 25,
REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE COUNTY OF HA'~NAII 1960, AS AMENDED.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUFERVISORS IN AND FOR THE
COUNTY OF HAPIAII
SECTION 1. Section 119.01 of Ordinance No. ?5,
Revised Ordinances of the County of Hawaii :L960, as amended,
is hereby further amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 119.01.. Trucks and Busses, restricted
use of certain highways. It shall be unlawful for any
person operating a truck over three-ruarter ton capacity
or any bus to descend Pakalana Street in Honokaa between
Lehua Street and Kukui S.tr,eet; provided, that any vehicle
equipped with safety brakes consisting of automatic sprinn
that will. actuate the brakes when the air pressure drops
below h0 pound per square inch may be operated on said
Pakalana Street during the hours when }~-lonokaa High arn~
Elementary School. is not in session. All vehicles equipped
with safety brakes shall first be checked and approved by the

Chief Engineer of the Department of Public Works before they
are operated on said Pakalana Street. The apprroval of the
Chief Engineer shall. be valid for a period of three months."
SECTION ^. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.
