ORDINANCE N0. 297
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 25, THE TRAFFIC CODE
OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, AS AMENDED, PERTAINING TC THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF ANY PERSON DRIVING OR HERDING ANY
LIVESTOCK ACROSS A PUBLIC HIGHWAY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISOR:> IN AND FOR THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 25, the Traffic Code of
the County of Hawaii, as amended, is hereby further
amended by adding thereto a new section to read as follows:
"Section 125.04. Warning signs required for
livestock movement. Any person who drives or herds any
livestock across a public highway shall place warning
signs adjacent to said public highway, which signs ~ahall
be in black letters, not less than 4" in height on <3 yellow
field reading 'CAUTION - LIVESTOCK CROSSING'. Said signs
are not required in an area v~h ere the speed limit is more
than 35 miles per hour when visibility is unobstructed by
atmospheric or topographic conditions for a distance of
500 feet on both approaches from the place where said
livestock is crossing and also not required in an area
where the speed limit is less than 35 miles per hour when
visibility is unobstructed by atmospheric or topographic
conditions for a distance of 250 feet on both approaches
from the place where said livestock is crossing. Ydhere

approaches from the place where said livestock is
crossing."
SECTION 2_. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.

Supervisor Greenwell moved Ordinance Bill 331 be amended to read as follows:
"Section 125.04. Warning signs required for
livestock movement. Any person who drives or herds any
livestock across a public highway shall place warning
signs adjacent to said public highway, which signs shall.

Seconded by Supervisor Yadao and unanimously carried.
The foregoing Bill passed second and final reading at
the meeting of the Board of Supervisors on January by 1965
and was adopted by the following aye and no vote.
