ORDINANCE N0, 2
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ORDER OF SUCCESSION TO THE OFFICE
OF THE CHAIRI:IAN AND EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS,
COUNTY OF HA4JAII, IN THE EVENT OF CIVIL OR IdILITARY DISIiSTER.
BE IT ORDAINED BY `PHE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF TIC COUIQTY OF
HA?:TAI I
SECTION 1, :Then the Chairman and Executive Officer of the
County of Hawaii is unable to perform his duties as a result of a
civil or military disaster, the following county officials, in the
order named, shall assume that office:
(a) A member of the Board of Supervisors who has served
the longest continuous tenure as determined from the date of said
disaster on the Board of Supervisors shall assume the office of
the Chairman and Executive Officer,
[Then there is more than one supervisor having the same
length of service, then, the supervisor representing the First
Senatorial District shall assume the office of the Chairman and
Executive Officer,
PJhen there is more than one supervisor having the same
length of service and representing the First Senatorial District,
then, the supervisor polling the largest number of votes in the
preceding general election shall assume the office of the Chairman
and Executive Officer,
(b) [.Then none of the members of the Board of Supervisors
is able to assume the office of the Chairman and Executive Officer
then, the I~ianagement Assistant shall assume the office of Chairman
and Executive Officer,
(c) ['Then none of the members of the Board of Supervisors
nor the i:Ianagement Assistant are able to assume the office of the
Chairman and Executive Officer, then, the Planning Director shall
assume the office of the Chairman and Executive Officer,
(d) []hen none of the members of the Board of Supervisors
nor the I,ianagement Assistant, and the Planning Director are able to
assume the office of the Chairman and Executive Officer, then, the
Personnel Director shall assume the office of the Chairman and
Executive Officer,
