ORDINANCE N0. 86
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 11, REVISED ORDINANCES OF
THE COUNTY OF HAWAII 1967, RELATING TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION
COMMISSIONS AND EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE THEREOF BY COMBINING NORTH
AND SOUTH KONA RECREATION COMMISSIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE HOARD OF SUPERVISORS IN AND FOR THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII•
SECTION 1. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 11, Revised Ordinances
of the County of.Hawaii 1967, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 3. Parks and Recreation Commission. There
is hereby created a Parks and Recreation Commission for
each of the following districts to consist of membership
as hereafter enumerated:
" a District of North Kohala
" b District of South Kohala
" c District of Kona
" d District of Kau
" e District of Puna
" f District of Hamakua
" g District of North Hilo
" h City of H ilo
" (i District of South Hilo,
outside of t he City of Hilo

The Chairman and Executive Officer of the Board of Supervisors
shall, with the approval of the said Board, appoint the members
of each commission who shall be residents of the district for
which they are appointed. The members of each commission
shall serve without pay, but may be reimbursed for any
traveling expenses incurred in the performance of their
official duties. Each commission shall annually~l ~ its
own chairman from the members thereof and meetings shall be
called at the discretion of the chairman."
SECTION 2. Section 4 of Ordinance No. 11, Revised Ordinances

of the County of Hawaii 1967, is hereby am~p~:to read as follows:
"SECTION 4. Term of office, Ttye term of office of the
members of each commission shall be"~two (2) years; rovided,
however, that on a seven-member commission, four (4~ members
of the commission shall be appointed for a term ending at
noon on January 2, 1958, and three (3) members of the
commission shall be appointed for a term ending at noon on
January 2, 1959, on the first appointment under the provisions
of this ordinance; on a nine-member commission, five (5)
members of the commission shall be ap ointed for a term ending
at noon on January 2, 1958, and four (4•) members of the
commission shall be appointed for a term ending at noon
on January 2, 1959, on the first appointment under the
provisions of this ordinance; on an eleven-member commission,
six (6) members of the commission shall be appointed for a
term ending at noon on January 2, 1958, and five (5) members
of the commission shall be appointed for a term ending at
noon on January 2, 1959, on the first appointment under the
provisions of this ordinance; on a thirteen-member commission,
seven (7) members of the commission shall be appointed for a
term ending at noon on January 2, 1958, and six (6) members
of the commission shall be appointed for a term ending at
noon on January 2, 1959, on the first appointment under the
provisions of this ordinance; and on the Kona commission
four (4) members of the commission shall be appointed for
a term ending January 2, 1968, and five (5) members for a
term ending January 2, 1969; thereafter all appointments
shall be for two (2) years from the date of expiration of
the term for which the predecessors were appointed, Any
vacancy shall be filled by appointment for the remainder of
the unexpired term,"
SECTION 3, Section 6 of Ordinance No. 11, Revised Ordinances
of the County of Hawaii 1967, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 6, Executive committee, The chairman of the
nine commissions shall constitute the executive committee of
the parks and recreation commissions. The executive committee
shall annually select its own chairman from the members thereof
and shall meet from time to time at the discretion of the
chairman."
SECTION 4, This Ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval,
