ORDINANCE N0. 89
AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
AND PRESCRIBING FUNCTIONS THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IN AND FOR THE
COUNTY OF Hr1VVAII:
SECTION 1. Office of Board of Supervisors. There is
hereby created a department known as the Office of Board of
Supervisors of the County of Hawaii. The department shall
consist of an Aide to Board Members and Committees and such
other officers and employees as may be provided by the Board
of Supervisors.
SECTION 2. Aide to Board Members and Committees. The
Aide to Board P.4embers and Committees shall be in charge of the
Office of Board of Supervisors and he shall be appointed by the
Chairman and Executive Officer of the Board of Supervisors, with
the approval of the Board of Supervisors. The Chairman shall
appoint the person who is recommended by the majority of the
members of the Board of Supervisors. The said Aide shall have
such qualifications as the Board of Supervisors may deem necessary
and shall receive a salary fixed by the Board of Supervisors.
The said Aide shall have the power to appoint such other employees
as may be necessary to perform the duties of the department and
for which appropriations and funds have been provided by the
Board of Supervisors. The Aide shall be vested with all powers,
duties and functions conferred or imposed upon the department by
this ordinance and such other powers, duties and functions as
shall be prescribed by the Board of Supervisors.

SECTION 3. Functions. The department shall provide
research assistance and clerical staff to the several committees
of the Board of Supervisors and shall act as the liaison between
the legislative body and the general public, including govern-
mental bodies and agencies.
SECTION 4. Transfer of positions and personnel. All
positions and personnel of the department of Board of Supervisors
(Section 8.02 of Salary Ordinance) are hereby transferred to the
Office of Board of Supervisors.
SECTION 5. Inconsistent Frovisions. All ordinances and
resolutions inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect
upon its approval.

AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFF"ICE OF BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
AND PRESCRIBING FUNCTIONS THEREOF.
This Bill creates a department to be known as the
Office of Board of Supervisors to consist of an Aide to
Aoard Members and Committees and such other officers and
employees as may be provided by the Board of Supervisors, to
provide research assistance and clerical staff to the
several committees of the Board of Supervisors; to act as
liaison between the legislative body and the general public,
including governmental bodies and agencies.
