BILL N0. 466 COUNTY OF HAWAII - STATE OF HAWAII ORDINANCE N0. ~_ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5 OF ORDINANCE N0. 12 OF TfiE REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII 1967, RELATING TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Section 5 of Ordinance No. 12, Revised Ordinances of the County of Hawaii 1967, is hereby amended to read as follows: .~` Fc_-~ l Crr~., .. Fs J . "SECTION 5. Economic Develo ment Committee. There shall be with n the Department of Economic Development a committee hereby designated as the Economic Development Committee, which shall sit in an advisory capacity to the Director or Deputy Director of Economic Development on matters within the jurisdic- tion of the said department. Said committee shall also be the recipient of funds appropriated by the State of }iawaii for neighbor island economic development, and for this purpose determine the manner in which said appropria- tion be expended. "The committee shall consist of nine (9) members who shall be appointed by the Chairman and Executive Officer of the Board of Supervisors, with the approval of the Board of Supervisors, and shall hold office for two (2) years or until their successors are appointed and qualified; provided that of the members originally appointed hereunder, five (5) shall be appointed for a term expiring January 1, 1968, and four (4) shall be appointed for a term expiring January 1, 1969; thereafter, every appointment shall be made for a term of two (2) years commencing from the date of the expiration of the last preceding term. Any vacancies shall be filled by appointment for the remainder of the unexpired term. The Chairman and Executive Officer of the Board of Supervisors shall name one of the members to act as Chairman of the committee. "The members of the committee shall serve without compensation but shall be entitled to receive reasonable traveling expenses beyond the city limits of Hilo for the attendance of meetings or for the performance of official functions of the committee. "The majority of the members of the committee shall constitute a quorum necessary for the transaction of business and for the exercise of; powers and authority conferred upon the committee. The committee shall meet as many times as necessary to advise the Department of Economic Development in the performance of its functions. AUG 23 1QE7 . "The committee membership shall be broadly representative of the principal social and economic interests of the County of Hawaii, and-will include representatives of business, labor, agriculture, minority groups, the unemployed and underemployed."
