ORDINANCE NO. 135_„_
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 59, REVISED ORDINANCES
OF THE COUNTY OF HA>~AII 1967, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 77,
RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHING OF REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE
INSTALLATION, CARE AND MAINTEiVANCE OF ELECTRICAL WORK AND
EQUIPMENT IN THE COUNTY OF HAIVAII.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII:
SECTZOia 1. Section 10 of Ordinance No. 59, Revised
Ordinances of the County of Hawaii 1967, as amended by
Ordinance No. 77, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SECTIOiv 10. Persons to +~hom Permits i:ay Be Issued
A permit to do electrical work regulated by this Code
may be issued only toe (1) a i~erson who owns and
occupies or will occupy a single family dwelling used
exclusively for living purposes, including the usual
accessory buildings, provided that the person shall
successfully pass an oral or written examination at
the discretion of the Bureau of Building Construction
and Inspection which shall be administered by the
Bureau of Building Construction and Inspection, the
structure and contents of said examination being
formulated by the Board of Electrical Examiners;
provided further that, upon said successful completion
and prior to the issuance of the permit granted
hereunder, said owner shall file an affidavit to
the effect that he is the bona fide owner of a
dwelling house to be built and that he shall
personally occupy same, and shall perform all
electrical work for said dwelling and accessory

building; or (2) a supervising electrician or supervising
specialty electricians
"A. Who is an electrical contractor or electrical
specialty contractor; or
"B, Who is employed by an electrical contractor or
electrical specialty contractor fox work of the electrical
contractor or electrical specialty contractorp or
"C, l9ho is employed as a maintenance electrician by
someone other than an electrical contractor or electrical
specialty contractor; or
"D, ~1ho is donating his services as an electrician
or specialty electrician to an eleemosynary institution
in connection with electrical installatlons of a temporary
nature; or
"E, Who is applying for a permit for electrical or
specialty electrical work for his own dwelling,
"F, ~9ho is employed by the County,"
SECTIOiv 2. Ordinance No, 77 is hereby repealed,
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval,
