COUNTY OF HAWAII - STATE OF HAWAII
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 38, OF THE REVISED ORDINAN
OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII 1967, AS AMENDED, PROVIDING FOR THE
REGULATION AND CONTROL OF TAXICAB DRIVERS AND TA%IMETERS,
ESTABLISHING TAXICAB RATBS AND FARES, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES
FOR THE VIOLATIC~7 THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAIIt
SECTION 1. Subsection (a) of Section 1 of Ordinance No. 38,
Revised Ordinances of the County of Hawaii 1967, as amended, is
hereby further amended to read as follows:
"(a) 'Taxicab' shall mean and include any motor vehicle
designed to carry seven passengers or leas, operating for hire
within the geographical limits of the County of Hawaii, and
accepting a passenger or passengers with or without baggage
for transportation between such points as may be directed by
the passenger or passengers, the charges for service being based
upon the distance traveled, plus waiting time, if any, oz the
canbination of distance traveled and time elapsed. The term
'taxicab' shall not include: (1) sightseeing buses, (2) buses
employed solely for transporting school children or teachers,
(3) hotel buses operated solely between steamship pier a, airplane
terminals or hotels, (4) chartered buses, (5) motor vehicles
rented or hired on a •U-Drive' or 'Drive-Yourself' basis."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.
