AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 10-6 (MINIMUM SPEED REGULATION)
OF ORDINANCE NO. 39 (TRAFFIC CODE), REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII 1967, AS AMENDED.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 10-6 of Ordinance No. 39, Revised
Ordinances of the County of Hawaii 1967, as amended, is
hereby amended by adding thereto the following subsection.
"(c) SLOW-MOVING VEHICLES
1. Slow-moving vehicles defined: Slow-moving
vehicles shall mean all vehicles traveling less than
the minimum speed in zones with a minimum speed of
forty (40) or more miles.
2. Lighting equipment required; use: All
slow-moving vehicles shall be equipped with lamps
which shall be used for the purpose of warning the
operators of other vehicles of the fact that it is
a slow-moving vehicle requiring the operators of other
vehicles to exercise unusual care in approaching,
overtaking or passing. The lamps used to display
such warning to the front shall be two (2) in
number and shall be mounted at the same level and
as widely spaced laterally as practicable, and shall
display simultaneously flashing white or amber lights,
or any shade of color between white and amber. The
lamps used to display such warning in the rear shall
be two (2) in number and shall be mounted at the same
level and as widely spaced laterally as practicable
and shall show simultaneously flashing amber or red
lights, or any shade of color between amber and
red. The use of turn signals, flashing simultaneously,
two (2) in the front and two (2) in the rear of the
vehicle is authorized to satisfy this requirement.
These warning lights shall be visible from a
distance of not less than five hundred (500) feet
in normal sun light."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.
