Home My WebLink AboutORD 1970-360BILL NO. 7 COUNTY OF HAWAII - STATE OF HAWAII (AMENDED ORDINANCE NO. 60 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 301 (AS AMENDED), RELATING TO THE REGULATION AND CONTROL OF COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATIONAL AREAS AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, BY AMENDING SECTION A OF SECTION 2.4, CAMPING, AND BY ADDING A NEW SECTION UNDER PART IV, SPECIAL RULES FOR SPECIAL PARKS. SECTION 1. Section A of Section 2.4 of Ordinance No. 301, as amended by Ordinance No. 315, is hereby further amended to read as follows: "A. Camping and the use of trailers or other camper units are only permitted as follows: (1) At Laupahoehoe Beach Park, Kolekole Beach Park, James Kealoha Beach Park, Isaac Hale Beach Park, Punaluu Beach Park, Whittington Beach Park, Milolii Beach Park, Napoopoo Beach Park, Hookena Beach Park, Keokea Beach Park, Mahukona Park, Kapaa Park, camping and the use of trailers or other camper units are permitted on any suitable place. The camper shall give due regard to the rights and convenience of other users of the park, shall not obstruct any roadway or pathway, and shall not monopolize any facility intended for the use of all users of the park. (2) At Onekahakaha Beach Park, camping and the use of trailers and other camper units are permitted only in the area on the Hilo side of the road leading into Onekahakaha Beach Park and mauka of Pavilions 1, 2, and 3 up to one-half of the Children's Zoo parking lot. (3) At Harry K. Brown Beach Park, camping and the use of trailers or other camper units are permitted in the area on the Kau side of a straight line extending from the makai-Kau corner of the parking lot to the main government road and parallel with the park road. (4) At Samuel Spencer Beach Park, camping and the use of trailers or other camper units are permitted in three (3) camping areas known as areas 'A', 'B', and 'C'. Area 'A' is mauka of the large pavilion between the Hapuna boundary of the park and the sidewalk leading to the large pavilion. Area 'B' is mauka of the parking lot in the date -palm tree area and along the Hapuna boundary of the park. Area 'C' is makai of the Kawaihae side pavilion up to the sandy beach area on the Hapuna side. (5) The areas described in subsections 2, 3, and 4 above are outlined in red on the maps attached hereto, marked Exhibit A for Onekahakaha Beach Park, Exhibit B for Harry K. Brown Beach Park, and Exhibit C for Samuel Spencer Beach Park, and by reference made a part hereof. Three (3) copies of this ordinance, including copies of the Exhibits hereto, shall be kept on file and be available for public inspection in the Office of the County Clerk." SECTION 2. Ordinance No. 301, as amended, is further amended to include the following section under "PART N. SPECIAL RULES FOR SPECIAL PARKS": "SECTION 4.1. Kahaluu Park, North Kona, Hawaii. A. Camping and the use of trailers or other camper units are prohibited at Kahaluu Park." SECTION 3. Ordinance No. 315, Revised Ordinances of the County of Hawaii 1967, is hereby repealed. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
